The Opium 2 is a large free-standing monitor, built in a 3-way system, based on a 12″ woofer, a 6.5″ midrange and a 29mm berl speaker.
A 12″ paper woofer from Italian manufacturer Lavoce is responsible for reproducing the low registers. The midrange speaker is a Modified Norwegian SEAS with a polypropylene diaphragm. The tweeter, on the other hand, is an excellent SB Acoustic with a beryllium diaphragm.
The enclosure is made of high-quality MDF, 24-45 mm thick - it has numerous reinforcements and internal stiffeners to eliminate vibrations and resonances.
The midrange chamber is designed and made to eliminate parasitic standing waves inside the enclosure, additionally saturated with epoxy resins to improve the internal structure and further stiffen the whole.
The enclosure's damping is natural felt in the woofer chamber, while the midrange chamber is filled with an innovative material commonly known as Angel Hair, or aramid fibers.
Based on MUNDORF, JANTZEN AUDIO and DUELUND components, consisting of 2nd and 3rd order filters with equalizers.
The woofer path is based on large cross-section core coils, polypropylene capacitors and low-noise resistors. The midrange track uses Mundorf Aluminum EVO OiL capacitors, Jantzen air coils and low-noise resistors. The tweeter section is excellent Mundorf Mresist resistors and DUELUND capacitors.
The whole is wired with Japanese monocrystalline copper of various cross sections. Speaker terminals used in the OPIUM are WBT Nextgen.
The stands attached to the columns are made of a thick-walled metal profile filled with fine quartz sand. The whole structure has 4 stages of anti-vibration, realized on 4 different materials.
